In english we have to read a book called nervous conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga. This author tells many of her experiences through this book. All of these expereinces were occurring when zimbabwe was becoming colonized and it was ruled by the british. In chapter three, her uncle, babamakuru, who went to england to become educated, returned home and he is now praised because he is educated.
The women in this book are treated very poorly. When babmakuru returns, Tambu (the main character) is expected to wash his hands and care for the men as if they cant serve their own meal. To me, this is wrong, but to tambu and the other women of her town it is normal for men to disrespect women. Tambu's father is a perfect example of this! Also, her brother nhamo disrespects tambu in this chapter and it just makes me angry that the women of this time cannot fend for themsellves and stick up for themselves because of the men!
