Chapter eight was interesting. At first it was a kind of normal chapter, nothing exciting. But then when told that Nyasha, Maiguru, and babmukuru are leaving, tambu freaks out. The reason why this part stuck out ot me is that throughout the book tambu has shown disapproval and concern towards nyasha and now all of a sudden tambu is sad that nyasha is leaving. To make matters even more confusing, tambu states that she cannot live without nyasha.
I am starting to understand why the book is called nervous conditions. Even though the book hasnt staright forwardly stated that tambu has a nervous condition, it is obvious. Tambu goes from not being sorry about the death of her brother. Chapter eight has two good examples of her nervous condition. One being that tambu goes back and forth between her feelings. For example tambu at first hates nyasha, then she cant live without her. Another instance showing that tambu has a nervous coniditon, is on the day of her mother's wedding in which she doesnt want to attend. Normally if you dont want to go somewhere one would think about it and just show a bad attitude towards the event but tambu took matters to extreme by literally not being able to move on the day of the wedding causing her to not attend the wedding. This seems strange because normally as i said before, somebody would think about how they dont want to go, but tambu's body actually acted like it didnt want to go. The pieces are coming together!

Chapter 7 Nervous Conditions
This chapter involved some family drama. Babamakuru and his family (including tambu) went to visit tambu's family for christmas. When they arrive Babamakuru is rude so this hints to me that maybe nyasha gets her ways from her dad. Also in this chapter something that stuck out to me was that babamukuru was acting like men did towards women at that time and for the first time maiguru said what she acually thought instead of agreeing with her husband. This stuck out to me because normally women respected their husbands and maiguru is a character that normally does a good job of this.
Whenever the family arrives and tambu sees her mom, her mom has changed so much. She is sick and weak. Also she acts differently towards tambu. The bathroom is normally cleaned and tambu asked why the bathroom wasnt clean that day and her mom snapped at her. something that i find weird isnt the fact that tambu ended up cleaning the bathroom but the fact that nyasha decided to help tambu without being asked.
Another interesting point in this novel is that lucia, tambu's mom's sister, and takesure, tambu's uncle, both arrived into tambu's parents' homestead because of family problems. Lucia ended up carrying a baby for takesure, but she said that it was for tambu's father. The funny part is that tambu's father declined that it was his baby, but he considered havinf lucia as a second wife. Did they not find that wrong to have two wives? To have two wives that are sisters? This idea is crazy to me! And then the whole idea about two wives dissappears. Im starting to like this book much more than i did at first and i really do understand it now

Chapter 6 Nervous Conditions
This was one of my favorite chapters. The beginnging was really boring and i was also confused about what was going on at the moment. After re-reading the begininning of this chapter a couple times i finally understood that nyasha studied her butt off for upcoming exams which was something unlikely of her. After overcoming this part of the chapter, i started to read much faster and i became much more intruiged.
In this chapter, nyasha and tambu go to a party. This is something that i could relate to so reading this section was easy for me. Then, after they returned from the party late, nyasha and a boy snuck off and babumakuru caught them. Nyasha ended up punching babamkuru and bakamukuru threatened to threaten nyasha and he also hit her multiple times. This may not have been a positive event but it was easily relatable and so i read the rest of the chapter quickly. This chapter really proves that nyasha will do anything to prove that women have equal rights as men did at the time.

The way i spent my weekend
Friday was the day that we got out of school for mardi gras break and i am so excited! We have a whole week off of school and this break really was needed. Every break comes with a load of homework. Even though we have a whole week off from school, i have to finish all of my work this weekend. The rest of my week and the next weekend will consist of cheer, cheer, cheer, oh and did i mention cheer? I have a really big competition coming up so i am deciding to finish all of my work this weekend.
Tonight i have read chapters six and seven of nervous conditions which took about 150 minutes. This book is interesting and it gives me new knowledge about the life in zimbabwe but i am having trouble actually keeping myself into this novel. I often find myself dozing off during each chapter and i feel like i am just reading to find the answers to the questions. These chapters were really rough for me because i did a lot of work today but i tried my best and worked with what i had.

Cheer Force
Ever since i was two years old, i have always had an interest in cheerleading. Whenever i was only two years old my mom put me into gymnastics just like a lot of other little kids. I started to grow a passion for it and continued gymnastics until i was eight. Then i started to become more interested in competitive cheerleading. Ever since i was eight i have been a competitive cheerleader. Most dont understand what a competitive cheerleader is. Many think that it can be related to school cheer, or that we just simply shout cheers and then are judged for that. Honestly, i cant say that one cheer has ever left my mouth during my experience of cheer. At cheer, we work out, warm up, and then work on our routines that consist of pyramids, baskets, stunts, many different areas of tumbling, jumps, and to top it off a dance. Each routine lasts about three minutes and each team has one routine that throughout the year they perfect and compete.
I go to louisiana cheer force and i absolutely love it there! cheer is a way that i can just be myself and give it all ive got. I really have something for cheer and my life would be so different without it! As i said before, ive cheered since i was eight years old and there is definitely a reason why ive decided to continue it.

Chapter 5 Nervous Conditions
In this chapter of nervous conditions we have problems with little miss Nyasha AGAIN! It seems as though nyasha likes drama and trouble. In this chapter nyasha decides to read an inapropriate book and her mom told her to stop reading it but nyasha decided to bring the book to the dinner table. For the first time in this book, nyasha's parents stuck up for themselves and told nyasha that the way she behaves isnt okay. But, after her parents fuss at her she goes back to her normal ways. She goes to smoke whenever she's stressed. Nyasha seems like she wants to rebel against anything her parents say.
Even though in this chapter nyasha is singled out when she rebels, i think that the author of this novel is trying to focus on tambu. In this chapter tambu finds herself and discovers what she apporves of and what she dissaproves of. Tambu definetly doesnt agree with nyasha's ways such as smoking and her overall attitude. Whenever tambu and nyasha went to bed nyasha decided to be a brat and tambu finally stood against nyashsa. This made tambu feel superior which was something new for her. Also in this chapter tambu dreams about her brother. In this dream tambu is smoking which symbolizes that she is accepting nyasha's way and that she is letting nyasha influence her. Maybe this is foreshadowing?

Chapter 4 Nervous conditions
In the previous chapter, chapter 3, tambu and her cousin, Nyasha fight a lot. But now, in chapter four, Whenever Tambu goes to school and lives with her aunt and uncle, her problems with Nyasha disappear. I wonder why that is? Tambu didnt really like Nyasha because she had an attitude towards people and felt like she was better than all of the other women of the community, but now whenever tambu goes to englanf everything with nyasha is fixed? That doesnt really click with me. But at the same time, i think that if tambu and nyasha will be living in the same house then all of their issues should be ressolved.
Another important event that happens in this chapter is that tambu goes to school! After all of her hard work im so happy that she finally goes to school! It kind of seems cheesy that im happy for a fictional character, but knowing this gives me a sense of knowledge that whenever a tough time comes, and women arent treated fairly, there are ways to overcome this problem! it gives me a sense of pride knowing that tmabu stayed strong to live her dreams, and knowing that is inspiring!

Chapter 3 Nervous Conditions
In english we have to read a book called nervous conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga. This author tells many of her experiences through this book. All of these expereinces were occurring when zimbabwe was becoming colonized and it was ruled by the british. In chapter three, her uncle, babamakuru, who went to england to become educated, returned home and he is now praised because he is educated.
The women in this book are treated very poorly. When babmakuru returns, Tambu (the main character) is expected to wash his hands and care for the men as if they cant serve their own meal. To me, this is wrong, but to tambu and the other women of her town it is normal for men to disrespect women. Tambu's father is a perfect example of this! Also, her brother nhamo disrespects tambu in this chapter and it just makes me angry that the women of this time cannot fend for themsellves and stick up for themselves because of the men!

My Research Paper
As you all know from my past few blogs, in english class we have been assigned a research paper about a current event. My paper is on the issue of human trafficking. Our first draft was due monday by four o'clock on a neat website called turnitin.com. This is a really great website. It is extremely easy to use, any body can use it because it is free, and its a way for teachers to have all papers together digitally. This website also checks for plagiarism and it gives you a percent of plagiarism next to your paper. This helps me, because no i do not plagiarize, but it helps me determine the quality of my paraphrasing skills.
Our final draft is due on valentine's day, how depressing right? Most of our class will be adding the final touches needed to our papers the night before the paper is due, but on the other hand i will be doing my paper ALL WEEKEND. This is because i have an extremely busy weekend and i want a good grade on this assignment as anyone would. So far, i have added a couple of comments to my draft but i havent fixed these problems such as i need to site more sources and i need a stronger conclusion. Other than these two issues i dont think that i will have too much more to change on my paper.

For my birthday I receive money from my grandparents and a good present from my parents! i decided to start shopping early for what I will spend my money on. As you all know from my past blog, in english class we were assigned a research paper. I decided to do my paper on human trafficking; when a person (normally women) are lured to another country and then are taken advantage of and or sexually abused.
This week, I have spent a lot of time working on my paper. I currently have finished my first draft of my paper and I think its okay. Im not sure if i have cited my sources correctly but I feel that I at least have strong ideas for what goes where in my paper. I think after talking about my paper with a few of my friends that I was finish this assignment with a strong research paper on Human Trafficking.
