Young Forever

during spring break we had to annotate a song for poetic qualities! during the break i bought the new nicki minaj cd and i love it! I was trying to think of a song by nicki minaj to do for this assignment and i finally foundmy song after endlessly going through the lyrics of EVERY SINGLE ONE of her songs. I chose the song called young forever. This title attracted me first of all because i wish i would be young forever! Anyways heres my annotations.

In This song there was a lot of consonance  which is the repeating sounds of consedents. One example of this in the song would be, " Whenever pretty summer dAY, i remmeber when you would sAY". I think that this poetic technique isnt very important but by using it the author may try to make something stand out. Or it's easy to remmeber the lines if thee are similiar words so maybe the author wants one to rember what he/she is saying.

There is also assonance in this song which is the repeated sounds of vowels. One Example of assonance in this song would be "Frozen in tIme, always be mIne". to me, assonance sets the mood for a poem or a song. For instance, if the sound "eye" is repeated it sounds sort of harsh but if the sound "oo" is repeated the poem sounds less harsh and more fun. 


This song is FULL of emjambment which is whenever a line breaks in mid thought. To me, this technique makes the reader really look closely at the lines to put the pieces together. One example of this would be " I never knew only as a teen,
                  You'd reappear in my dream"
