an example of assonance from this poem is "...Then with cracked hands that ached".
Other techniques that the author uses in the poem are light and dark and personification. These techniques are usued, but they arent used as much as assonance and emjambment. an example of light are the words good and love. Examples of dark are the words chronic angers and lonely. An example of enjambment is
"and put his clothes
on in the blue black cold"
Light and dark adds flavor to the poem and personification makes the readerthink about what she just read. Enjambment makes the reader take their time when reading.
Great post, and use of vocabulary. I liked how you showed us examples of assonances, and an enjambment. It helps us visualize the meaning of these words.
ReplyDeleteMia, "Those Winter Sundays" is by Robert Hayden. It is worth making sure you are using the correct pronoun in discussing an author, and, really, you should name the author in your analysis. This post needs editing. I'm glad you try to look at effects, but remember to be specific to the context. I can't give you credit for this post, however, because the assignment said very specifically that the analysis must be your own, and your analysis matches Alex's. Please also see his post for further comments.
