Taylor Swift 1-27-12

When I first heard of Taylor swift three years ago at camp ozark, not many people had heard of her either. My friend in my cabin sang a Taylor Swift song for the talent show and at that moment I knew that I would be hooked. After I got home from camp ozark I got her first CD. I must have listened to this Cd at least 20 times. I loved it!

Then, after a while I started to get tired of the CD. I thought she would never come out with a new CD. I was wrong, she came out with her newest CD,speak now. This CD pretty much explained my life. Almost every song was a song that I could relate to. Any time that I was sad or depressed I would listen to taylor swift and some how it would make me feel better. Even if i am in a good mood, listening to taylor swift makes me in the BEST MOOD! I love taylor swift and will always be a fan(:

Research Paper

In English class we have to write a research paper about a current world issue. My issue is human trafficking. I never really understood what human trafficking was, i just knew that it was an issue. The day after this project was sprung on us I watched the movie Taken. This movie really got me going about the issue and from then on I knew that that would be the issue that i would write a paper about.

Human trafficking is when a person is lured into a different country by a trafficker. After they get to that country the trafficker often gives the victim a drug so that the victim forgets what happens. Then the victim is sexually abused and or sold into sex trade. This is horrible. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I was a trafficker and I scarred other people for the rest of their lives. The sad part about this whole issue is the fact that most of the victims are never saved and then they often die because of the poor conditions of their environments. I am definitely against human trafficking and I recommend the movie Taken. It really opens your eyes about how the real world is.

Teen mom is a show that I watch every. single. tuesday. I love this show! it's dramatic, and it shows teenagers how life would be as a parent. It's something that now a days more and more people are able to relate to. Some people may say that this show is trash, that no teen should watch a show called teen mom. But if you think about it, this show convinces teens out of the idea of becoming a teen parent because it shows how hard life is. None of these moms are still together with their boyfriend/ baby's father, most of them have rocky relationships with their parents, they struggle with money, and most importantly the majority of these moms have to give up school. May it be high school or college, each of these girls have to spend all of their time watching and caring for their children instead of  pursuing their careers.

The rate of teen moms is growing more and more day by day. Honestly, i think this show could really change the views about teenage parenting of many teens. Its sad that there has been 3 or 4 seasons of teen mom already, each with 4 sets of teen parents. It was so easy for MTV to find teen moms and thats sad. Also, there is more than one show about this topic. There is also 16 and pregnant, which is the same thing just with even more cases. Both of these shows really opened my eyes about the consequences of our actions and what we could have coming our way later in life

Along For the Ride By Sarah Dessen

So far, this book is AMAZING! Auden, a girl whose parents are fighting and getting a divorce is lonely. She has to leave her life as a teenager to be the perfect child for her mother; in other words she couldnt just hang out like other teens. Then she gets to spend her summer with her careless dad on the beach where he lives. He has a new family and auden is alone in the world.  Auden gets a job at a clothes boutique and then she meets plenty of friends through that. Finally she meets Eli, and he lets her be the carefree teenager that she has always wanted to be.

I really am enjoying this book. I picked it because I have heard that sarah dessen is a great author and also i've seen her name before, so i knew that it should be okay to read this book. Also, the title along for the ride just seems like a good book. It seemed like a book that i could relate to. Because in many ways "i'm along for the ride". No, my parents may not be divorced, but any and every teen has problems they have to deal with. I really felt like this book spoke to me. It showed me how life could be MUCH worse and it made me grateful for what i already have. I really would recommend this to any teenager to read because its a book that MANY people could relate to.

When I was in eighth grade, I would have never dreamed of being in high-school. The whol idea about high school petrified me. One day during my eighth grade year, the head of the high school came to talk to us about high school scheduling. This is when I realized that it was real, high school was coming, and it was coming soon. I began to panic because I wasn't ready for highschool, I didnt have the supplies, cool shoes, right uniforms.

Then highschool came. I realized that it wasnt so bad as I thought. As a current freshman, High school was  a big change. There is a lot more work and effort needed, but it's also a sense of freedom. You don't have teachers surrounding you everywhere you go, your teachers dont remind you about homework. High school is your time to prove that you're reliable and able to make good decisions on your own. Its so easy to make a bad mistake in high school when you arent constantly surrounded by teachers, but thats the time when you have to think to yourself, "would i rather have a bad reputation with my friends and teachers or would i rather have a good reputation and be trust worthy?" High school may seem like just another boring stage to some people, but in my life it's my time to realize who I am, who my friends are, what my real interests are, and its also an experience that lets you know how strong you are morally. Its a way to let your friends know that you know what's right and wrong and you wont let yourself be pushed by others. Even though it's only my first year of highschool, I have learned so much from it already.

Refugee Boy By Benjamin Zephaniah

I read  the book refugee boy by Benjamin Zephaniah. So far it's really good. I was in a rush to find a book and this was the first book I saw. By the cover of this book, i didn't think that I would like the book. I thought it would be boring and something that I wouldn't be able to relate to. But now that I have started to read the book, I have been proven wrong. So far, Refugee Boy is a great book.

This book is about a bot named Alem, and he doesn't have a country. His parents are both from different countries which are at war with each other. Since these two places are at war, neither country is accepting enough to let Alem's family stay in that country. Alem's father leaves him alone in england to fend for himself. This starts the process of the London Refugee Council to help Alem find a foster family, friends, and a school. After a while in england Alem decides that he likes it  there and he also receives legal permission to stay in england. This book is heart touching to me. At first it was kind of sad, but that's what urged me on to keep reading. Even though this isnt a book about drama, or chick-flicks, and even though it wasnt something that I wold've recommended at first, this really is a great book and i recommend it to anyone to read! It's a book that really makes people realize what they have and to be thankful for what they have.

Free Write: Pinterest 1-4-12

The social site, Pinterest, is something that I really enjoy. It's a fun way for teens to share what they think is cute and its also a fun past-time. I do pinterest almost everyday. Plus it's extremely easy for people to use. First you follow your friends, and then you "repin" their pictures that you like and you can separate each "repin" into categories called boards.
Pinterest is something that I do many days. Some people think that it's stupid, or not worth getting. Some people even say that they don't want to get Pinterest because there are too many other social websites. Yes, it's true that there are many websites and apps that are used for social purposes, but at the same time it's something that many teenagers like to do and its something that they can all do.
